STAATSWEINGUT BERGSTRASSE
Founded in 1904 by the Archduke of Hessen-Darmstadt, this state domaine is based in the picturesque old village of Bensheim. 36 hectares of vineyards in the Hessische Bergstrasse are primarily planted with Riesling. Managed by Heinrich Hillenbrand, the first eiswein was harvested from the Heppenheimer Centgericht vineyard in 1972 and this feat has been repeated every year since 1977.
