A very fine Isfahan prayer rug, Central Persia
The ivory field with overall design of scrolling floral vine issuing various polychrome palmettes, stylised floral sprays and leaves, open spanrels in the shaped of mihrab with scrooling arabesques at one end, in an ivory border of meandering floral vine together with polychrome floral palmettes and cloudbands between light rust and light blue meandering floral arabesque stripes, outer plain stripe, very slight localized wear on edge of one side
