Lot Essay

Longwy specialised in producing crackle-glazed wares for Primavera, the design studio of the department store Au Printemps. The vivid enamel decoration of Longwy may have been influenced by the recent interest of artists such as Picasso in African art. They also resemble the linear quality of Chinese cloisonné enamel.
