Lot Essay

Eric Ravilious was brought up in Eastbourne where he attended the School of Art before moving to the Royal College of Art in 1922. His lithographs were produced in series including shop fronts, Newhaven Harbour and his final series Submarines which was produced 2 years after he was made an official war artist.
