Grace before Meat

The prototype, on canvas, 134 x 115 cm, has been in the Rijkmuseum since 1889. In the picture the pious reflections of the elderly woman are contrasted with the appetote of the cat (W. Sumowski, Gemälde der Rembrandt-Schýler, 1983, III, no.1367, p.2023, ill). Another copy is in the Rijksmuseum (P.J.J. van Thiel, All the paintings of the Rijksmuseum, 1976, p.359, no.2840, ill.).
