Lot Essay

The table top pattern with its hollowed and elliptic corners, first appears on a drawing of a sideboard, in Gillows Estimate Sketch Book, 1788, while a gilt-framed table of this form, features in their pattern book of the mid 1790s, (L. Boynton (ed.), Gillow Furniture Design 1760-1800, Royston, 1995, figs 94. and pl. 3).
