The double edged blade, marked at ricasso N.P. Ames Springfield/U.S.N. 1843, with cast brass guard marked with two American Eagles at pommel, guard marked 16 over 62, quillion marked with inspector's mark J.C.B. With leather sheath mounted with brass tip and throat.
