OESTERGAARD Berlin-Schöneberg [c.1910] A 13-inch (33cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve colour printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and prime meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days but unlabelled, the oceans showing ocean currents, steamship routes and submarine cables, the Antarctic with very little detail, the continents with nation states variously coloured and showing railway lines, caravan routes, towns, cities, rivers, mountains, deserts and the Great Wall of China, Austro-Hungary shown, Panama shown as independent (split to approx. 70° of the equatorial with some paper loss, several areas of discolouration, abrasions) with stamped steel meridian half circle, raised on a baluster turned ebonised column and plinth base -- 22½in. According to the vendor, this globe was originally owned by Robert Guthrie, a Judge Advocate in the Nuremburg Trials following WWII.
