Lot Essay

Longevity symbols abound in this delightful and pictorally well-balanced bottle. The chrysanthemum is a symbol of autumn and represents the flower of the Ninth month. It blooms when most flowers fade. The lotus represents rebirth and in combination with fish can form a number of rebus. It can be read as hebao jinyu or niennian youyu. The first "May your purse be filled with gold and jade,i.e. riches." The second "May you live in abundance year after year."
