Yu Shi is the real name of Shao Shen, famous for his miniature calligraphy on ivory. He worked in the late Qing and was also known for his carving on the bone of fans.

The article Shi Shuo is by the Tang dynasty scholar Han Yu and relates to a teacher and his students.

For another ivory bottle of similar size and shape, see Hugh M. Moss, Chinese Snuff Bottles: 5, Middlesex, 1969, p. 17, lower right corner.
