Lot Essay

This model of kitchen chair was made in large numbers at the end of the 19th century and was intended to be stained to simulate mahogany, thus the quality and combination of timber was unimportant.

Similar chairs are illustrated in Dr. B Cotton, The English Regional Chair, Woodbridge, 1991, page 430-432.
