An extremely important coin historically and numismatically. Abu'l-Misk Kafur was a eunuch chosen to succeed the throne by the founder of the Ikhshidid dynasty - Muhammad bin-Tughj (al-Ikhshid). Until the recent discovery of this piece, his coins were only known from the year 355 AH. This coin closely resembles the contemporary 'Aththari Dinars in its design and execution.
