PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT RESEARCH INTO THROMBOCYTOPENIA, MYELOPROLIFERATIVE DISORDERS
PROPERTY OF A CHARITABLE REMAINDER ANNUITY TRUST This property was removed from a professional temperature controlled storage facility, as well as a professional quality home storage unit.
The trust received the donation of this wine from a long time collector and member of the Wine and Food Society of New York who was born in New York City in the mid 1920's. Raised by her mother and grandparents, she moved to Dutchess County, New York, where she lived the life of the granddaughter of a "gentleman farmer".
Having been introduced to wine at the age of 9 or 10 (introduced meaning having a small glass cut with a little water), she was well on her way to enjoying the passions of food and wine. Although forced to take a break from these passions during her pursuit of a college degree at New York University (only restrained by fiscal prudence), she once again jumped back in after earning degrees in English and Journalism.
Once establishing herself as a successful New York publicist, the draw of food and wine was too much, forcing numerous trips to the wine regions and gastronomic capitals of Europe. It was in the 1970's, at a restaurant named The Cottage on Lake Annecy, where the owner told her about the great Burgundies of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, thus inspiring her to "take a drive" to the Côte de Nuits. It was here that she tasted the greatest wine ever, 1921 La Tâche.
The 1980's provided myriad opportunities to search out the finest wines from the world's best wine merchants.
Zachy/Christie's is pleased to offer a collection of such quality and depth.
