Thomas Hadden was the premier blacksmith in Scotland of the period, a craftsman with an artistic flair and imagination of his own that was harnessed particularly effectively by Sir Robert Lorimer during their collaborations. Although the best work of the firm was produced for Lorimer the quality of their simple domestic wares was also high. In 1911 the firm traded from East Silvermills Lane, Edinburgh and undertook Gates, Railings, Hinges, Grilles, and every description of wrought-iron work.
