A large French Louis XV carved and applied composition gilded frame
With schematic foliate decoration to the outer edge, the ogee corners with stylised anthemia flanked by richly scrolling foliage, flower heads and strapwork, the centres with scallop-shells in similar settings, wide recessed sanded band, foliate ovolo sight edge, the upper corners with later spandrels, some later additional elements -- approximately 108 x 77 x 8½in. (274.3 x 195.6 x 21.5cm.)
