signed, dated and inscribed 'D Heins Fec:/1725/Miles Branthwayt/Ob 1751.' (lower left) and with inscription 'Miles Branthwayth 3d. son of Arthur/by Ann Dr. and heiress of Thomas Bacon Esq. who was 2d son of Sir Francis Bacon of the Bacons of/Hesset in Suffolk and one of/the judges of the Kings Bench/in 1642, Miles Ob: Nov. 1751 and/was buried in the family vault/at Hethel.' (on the reverse)
