Lot Essay

The present example is exceptionally finely modeled, with the urna originally likely inlaid with hardstone. Compare a stylistically related, but more fragmentary example, in W. Zwalf, A Catalogue of the Gandhara Sculpture in the British Museum, 1996, cat. no. 545.
