Carved in high relief around the sides with various trees growing from the rocky banks on either side of a river, the handle at one end formed by two gnarled tree trunks including a large pine tree that continues over the rim into the interior, with a poetic inscription on the side and a nineteen-character inscription in archaic characters inscribed on the base, of deep honey-brown color

The inscription on the base includes a date, xin mao and a maker's name, Li Yu.
