The slightly tapering hilt encircled by two protruding triple disk bands set between a circular concave pommel cast on top with concentric grooves and a shaped tang cast in intaglio with scrolls, the long blade with median ridge and beveled edges tapering to a sharp point, with smooth mottled patina

Lot Essay

A longer sword described as bi-metallic, which appears to have a similar pommel, similar projecting rings formed of multiple disks and a similar tang cast in intaglio for inlay is illustrated in Selected Bronzes in the Collection of the Poly Art Museum, Beijing, 1999, p. 269 B.
