Full-page illustration, Chapter V, facing p. 64 (New York 1886 edition), with a large opening initial I at top which does not appear in either the serial publication or the first book edition. 420 x 320 mm. (16 1/2 x 12 1/2 in.), small marginal tear, slight foxing and mat burn. [And:] "She was told by the footman at the door that the Earl would not see her." Vignette, Chapter XII, p. 181 (New York 1886 edition), with a large opening initial A mounted at top which does not appear in either the serial publication or the first book edition. 468 x 314mm. (18 1/2 x 12 3/8in.), small piece lost from blank margin, small marginal tear, slight foxing and mat burn. Both black ink over pencil with small areas heightened with white, signed. (2)
