cover 1867 (6 Sept.) entire letter from Singapore to Bombay, marked "per Str Ellora", bearing 6c. on 2a. pair tied by "B/172" obliterators and firm's chop and showing red crayon "4" with, on reverse, "SINGAPORE/P.O." and arrival datestamps; the cover split and repaired along most folds. A very early date of use and a very scarce double rate, being one of only three such recorded frankings bearing the 6c. Photo
