Lot Essay

This elegant form is based on a Sèvres 'Vase Paris'. The craftsmen at Mintons were commissioned by Thomas Goode to study and reproduce many of the forms in his collections. In addition, they had access to over fifty different vase shapes found in Sir Richard Wallace's Collection. For similar models to the present see Rosalind Savill, The Wallace Collection Catalogue of Sèvres Porcelain, London, 1988, vol. I, pp. 434-446.
