A Napoleon III ormolu three-piece garniture
Circa 1870
Comprising a mantel clock and a pair of nine-light candelabra: the clock as a large scroll-handled fluted ewer mounted with figures of Venus and Cupid, the gilt dial cast with cloudborne putti and with white enamel plaquettes, with twin-train movement, on spreading foot and shaped base cast with foliage and alternating relief portraits of a French king and queen, the front support with a figure of Cupid in relief, flanked by rams masks. the sides each with a webbed claw foot; the associated candelabra with pierced foliate-cast baluster stem, supporting acanthus-sheathed branches and urn-shaped nozzles, on pierced circular base and acanthus-cast scrolled feet
