Lot Essay

Belgian by birth, Claire Colinet studied sculpture under Jef Lambeaux (d. 1908) before moving to Paris. From 1913 she was a regular exhibitor and medallist at the Salon. Vers l'Inconnu was edited in three sizes by the Parisian foundry Etling, the present group being an example of the largest size.
