Each with brèche violette marble top with concave front corners, above a pierced scrolled acanthus and flowerhead frieze hung to the front with a pair of floral swags, on tapering flower-chain-entwined fluted front legs and plain fluted back legs, joined by an 'X'-shaped stretcher centred with a floral-festooned urn, on tapering feet

Lot Essay

Elinor Dorrance Ingersoll (d. 1976) was the daughter of Dr John Dorrance, who in 1897, whilst working alongside his uncle, Arthur Dorrance, General Manager at the Campbell Soup Company, left his mark on history with the invention of condensed soup.
