The composition of the top section of these candelabra is based on that of a girandole at Waddesdon Manor (see Hans Ottomeyer and Proschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, Vol. I, p. 259, pl. 4.7.13). On these candelabra, however, an eagle's head has been substituted for the acanthus scroll that supports each branch on the Waddesdon example.
