Ron Reserva Real, Cuban Rum 15 anos. Bottle No. 9 Classic Cuban rum, matured in oak barrels at the Vigia Distillery for 15 years. This was a special release for the IX Iberoamerican Summit recently held in Havana. Only 500 numbered bottles were issued. The first four bottles were presented to Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, His Majesty D. Juan Carlos I, The King of Spain, His Excellency D. José Maria Aznar, The President of Spain and D. César Gavinia, General Secretary of the American States Organization respectively. We were lucky enough to sample the contents of bottle No. 8 at a dinner held at the Melia Cohiba Hotel in Havana. Tasting note: Bright golden/tawny. Viscous texture. Very intense nose with notes of banana, caramel & vanilla. Powerful; slightly smoky. Soft & smooth on the palate, not firey. Burnt and toasted notes and a sweet caramel flavour. Marvellous 'lift' on the end palate with an enduring, complex, smoky finish.
