The distinct berried stiff leaf carving framing the back and overall sinuous outline of this armchair is closely related to that on a fauteuil attributed to Jean Gourdin (maître in 1737) in the Louvre, illustrated in B. Pallot, Furniture Collections in the Louvre, Paris, 1993, vol. II, pp. 46-47.
