These candelabra are of the same model as the bcelbrated 17th Century pair at Burghley House, Lincolnshire. Their bronze satyrs and satyresses undoubtedly inspired by Renaissance prototypes executed in the workshops of Riccio and Severo de Ravenna, these latter candelabra were probably purchased on the Grand Tour in Italy by John, 5th Earl of Exeter (1648-1700).
