The panels 16th Century and reconstructed
The rectangular lid with two bands of scrolled acanthus and bead-and-sausage torus and leaf-tip ogee molded edge, lifting to an unadorned interior, the front with a scales of justice shield flanked by two mermaids amongst scrolling foliage, the sides similarly-decorated and set with bail handles on later baluster-turned peg feet with gadrooned tops, bearing a paper label inscribed Loaned by Mr. Albert Kahn
