Lot Essay

The two Orientals, one dressed in red and yellow costume and the other with green costume beneath an embroidered robe, closely relate to others attributed to Giovan Battista Polidoro (late 18th/19th century) and his workshop. See, for example, one sold Semenzato, Rome, 1 December 1999, lots 219. The third Oriental, however, is closer to the style of Lorenzo Mosca when compared with another attributed to him, sold Christie's Milan, 25 November 1999, lot 264.
