A BRUSSELS BAROQUE MYTHOLOGICAL TAPESTRY
Late 17th/Early 18th Century
Depicting Mars offering his plumed helmet to Venus who holds her torch and floats aloft a cloud with Vulcan working in his forge to the left, all amid a wooded landscape surrounding a central clearing revealing classical architectural ruins amid rolling hills, within a floral and foliate strapwork border with parrots and tasseled lambrequins, the top border centering a ribbon-draped shell cartouche surrounded by emblems of love and hunting, the lower border with central hunting trophy and the sides centered by love trophies, guard borders replaced
