Each flame-veneered arched tablet back between back-scrolled ears and above adorsed parcel-gilt scrolls, the down-sweeping arms on acanthus-wrapped supports, the drop-in seat with green and gold trellis-patterned upholstery, on hipped saber legs (2)

Lot Essay

A comparable suite of side chairs were included in the refurbishment of the Armory Square of Gachina Palace by Kuzmin in about 1850 (illustrated A. de Gourcuff, ed. Gachina: Watercolours, paintings and engravings from the XVIIIth and XIVth centuries, Paris, 1992, no. 35, pp. 82-83).
