Each with triangular backplate painted with a polychrome grotesque on pink ground fronted by a large shell set with an armorial in front of two opposed crowned eagles beneath a closed crown, their necks within a crown, the left holding a sword, the right an orb, on a stepped rectangular base

Lot Essay

The arms of those of the Kosakov family. Mikhail, Alexei and Fedor Kozalov were made noble on 24 December 1790, and Grigori Alexandrovitch (born 1869) was a state advisor and chamberlain to the Romanoff court.
