With a slender funnel bowl, the rudimentary stem with a short plain section above a large hollow ball knop set between mereses, on a conical foot (slight staining to bowl)

Lot Essay

The form of this goblet relates closely to drawings in the letters of 1667-73 from the London glass seller and importer John Green to his Venetian supplier Allesio Morelli (see Tait 1979, p. 48, figs. 6 and 7). Also cf. Theuerkauff 1994, p. 235, no. 210.
