A French engraved gilt-brass striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm, last quarter 19th century
The foliate engraved case with ripple galleries and canted angles, one side glass backed by a pierced and engraved panel of a dancing figure within a trellis, with silvered dial plate and off white enamel chapter discs within a pierced and engraved mask, the dial with Roman numerals and Arabic five minutes, alarm disc below, with blued steel hands, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on gong to the backplate numbered 231; base plate lacking, one side glass chipped -- 6¼in. (16cm.) high; with leather travel case
