A Charles X mahogany and ormolu-mounted portico clock, circa 1825
The case with stepped top and supported on four capitals with milled capitals, on stepped base (top section detached from lower section, some splitting to veneers at rear) with bun feet, with palmette cast bezel to the gilt Roman chapter ring, with beaded border to the centre cast with addorsed griffins against a stipple ground, steel moon hands, the twin barrel movement with gridiron pendulum and countwheel strike on bell; rear door and bell detached, lacking suspension spring -- 21½in. (54.5cm.) high
