A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1770
The case with swan neck pediment to the hood, outset fluted pillars, with wavy top trunk door flanked by fluted three-quarter length pilasters, on plinth with canted angles and raised panel, on bracket feet, the 13¾in. cut-away brass dial with painted rolling moon in the arch, foliate scroll spandrels to the wide silvered chapter ring, the centre engraved with foliate scrolls and signed Thos. Moss FRODSHAM below a subsidiary seconds ring, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement and strike on later gong -- 91in. (231cm.) high
