A GROUP OF BOW CASES
edo period, 19th century
Comprising: Three black lacquered utsubo, one with a gold and silver bamboo design, the others with mon decoration, each mounted with leather carrying straps and silk cords; a fourth constructed of animal hide with black hair, mounted with leather staps, the cover gilded with Hori mon; with three open cases, two formed of impressed leather design with mon on patterned and solid dark green backgrounds, the hollowed form mounted with bronze fittings at the ends and along the spine for carrying; the third a red lacquered curved segment mounted with a circular latch above an attached leather base impressed with gilt mon on dark green ground
