The slightly concave top painted in linear style with a playful Buddhistic lion, the front with a bamboo spray, the back with a flower spray below a small vent hole and the ends with single flowerheads, all within a shaped cartouche framed by foliate scroll, painted in dark brown on a white slip and covered in a clear glaze, the base with the stamped mark, Zhangjia zao

Two pillows of this type and shape bearing the same mark are illustrated in Chinese Ceramic Pillows, The Mr. and Mrs. Yeung Wing Tak Gift, Hong Kong, 1993, nos. 113 and 114.
