A Japanese ivory tusk vase
carved and pierced in high relief with a warrior on the back of a huge fox, two other warriors attacking two further foxes amongst rockwork and pine, horn inset eyes, flat cover carved with fruit, mounted on a hexagonal hardwood base carved with scrolling waves -- 8¾in. (22.2cm) high, 19th Century, (finial lost, hairline age cracks).
