A Five-Case Lacquer Inro
Late Edo Period (19th Century)
The slender rectangular inro decorated in gold, silver, and black takamaki-e, togidashi, nashiji and kirigane on a kinji ground with a scene of passengers in a ferry boat, the reverse with the stern of the boat as it pushes off from the shore leaving a lone monkey trainer on the bank, the interior fundame; fitted with a glass bead ojime and a wood netsuke carved as a group of noh masks
