Elaborately decorated in underglaze-blue, red enamels and gilt with a large roundel of a phoenix flying between clouds, cherry boughs and peonies, raised walkways and hollow rocks within a wide border of butterflies, cloud-shaped panels of scrolling flowers and staked chrysanthemums, the underside decorated with three large peony sprays and concentric rings of underglaze-blue, four spur marks on base, foot rim unglazed
