The serpentined commode with scrolled apron and feet in the fashion popularised by Messrs A. Hepplewhite & Co.'s The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788, relates to a dressing-commode in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (see M. Tomlin, Catalogue of Adam Period Furniture, London, 1982, p. 180).
