On 11 May 1967, lot 50, Christie's sold a pair of commodes of this model for the Earl of Feversham, from Duncombe Park, Yorkshire. What was possibly one of that pair was sold again, in these Rooms, 18 November 1993, lot 113.
The present commode was bought by a previous owner in Helmsley and it is possible that all three were originally part of a larger number supplied to Duncombe Park.
