Lot Essay

This elegantly proportioned marble-topped side table relates to one from the collection of Mrs. Dorothy Hart, sold in these Rooms, 19 November 1987, lot 47. She was advised by the furniture historian R.W. Symonds in many of her purchases. The latter table also displayed a marble slab of brèche violette, acanthus-carved cabriole legs and ears and similar claw-and-ball feet.
