An extremely fine Italian micro-mosaic necklace and a micro-mosaic brooch
The necklace composed of seven rectangular micro-mosaic panels depicting scenes in Ancient Rome and nearby, including the Pantheon, the tomb of Cecilia Metella, the Coliseum, the Pyramid of Cestius, the Temple of Vesta and the Falls at Tivoli, the panels mounted 'en esclavage' between four-row fine gold neckchains, the oval brooch depicting Pliny's Doves of Venus, both circa 1840, the necklace 37.5 cm long, the brooch 5.8 cm. wide, in fitted red leather case (2)
