The laughing deity naturalistically modelled with his left arm resting on a tied sack to his side and holding a pearl in his hand, his right hand resting on his raised right knee, wearing voluminous long robes open at the front to reveal his protruberent stomach, his well-modelled head with bald pate and long pendulous earlobes, all under a pale creamy glaze, minute rim flake

The potter's mark reads he chao (the family of He). See P. J. Donnelly, Blanc de Chine, 1969, p.354 where this mark is shown. Budai is the god of happiness and prosperity and is often potrayed with his bag of riches and happiness.
