A FAMILLE ROSE URN-SHAPED VASE AND COVER
circa 1780-1790
Modelled after a European neo-classical faience prototype, with elaborate gilt double flower-head and foliage handles, the domed cover with an unusual finial modelled as a seated lady leaning on a wine-vat beside a ewer, her robes partially open to reveal one breast, each side of the urn with a gilt-ground finely enamelled roundel of two birds amongst rockwork and flowers within scattered blue enamel floral sprays, floral and vine bands at the shoulder, rim and cover, all standing on a square simulated marble stepped base, neck hairline, minor extremity chips
