A Chinese Export padouk desk, 19th century
With three-quarter spindle gallery with stick uprights and foliate finials, partially missing, above a stepped top with central hinged slope, enclosing two short drawers and a recess flanked by a small drawer to each side, above a frieze with two short drawers, having a kneehole below and cupboards enclosed by panel doors enclosing a shelf, flanked by three graduated drawers to either side, the sides with pierced carrying handles, on bracket feet, the locks stamped Bramah 2, Nottingham Street, SW1 below a coronet, the reverse of the drawers inscribed in black ink with Chinese characters with camphor drawer linings
